Background
Training and Tutelage
Anupama began her education in Bharatanatyam at the age of six years. When she was thirteen, she began intensive training with her guru, Smt. Parvatha Chidambaram, at the Bharata School of Arts in Rochester, NY. A direct disciple of Dr. Padma Subrahmanyam, Smt. Parvatha trained Anupama in the unique Vazhuvoor style of Bharata Nritya.
After completing her rangapravesha (solo debut) in 2006, Anupama had the opportunity to perform in several group productions. She has conducted classes and workshops at varying levels and across varying platforms since 2010.
Most recently, Anupama has focused her advanced training in abhinaya (artistic expression) from renowned gurus Smt. B. Bhanumati and Smt. Sheela Chandrasekhar, directors of the Nrityakalamandiram school in Bangalore, India.
